The Galway International Oyster Festival is a 4 day event held annually on the last weekend of September in the city’s centre. It is the longest running Oyster Festival in the entire world. When the festival started in 1954 it gathered a crowd of 34 people. Now, it brings in over 22 000 people!

Some activities that take place during the festival are: Seafood trials, oyster hot spots, the World Oyster Opening Championships, an abundance of family activities, live music and much more!
